Editors are the only decent thing to come out of Birmingham in history. I kid of course, but it still staggers me how something this good can hail from the West Midlands! With 2 number 1 albums, 4 top 10’s, one Mercury Prize nomination and two top 10 singles Editors have had a huge impact on the British music scene. Comprising of Tom Smith (vocals, piano, guitar), Russell Leetch (bass), Ed Lay (drums), Justin Lockey (lead guitar) and Elliot Williams (keys, synths, guitar and backing vocals) they’ve gone through both genre and line-up changes. Former guitarist Chris Urbanowicz left following their third album, which had seen a move away from the indie based guitars used on previous albums. Implementing more electronic sounds on the last few records hasn’t decreased the quality in their sound.

After hearing Blood and Munich, Gareth bought Editors’ second album. Being a huge fan since, he saw them support Muse at Old Trafford. Following the release of their fourth album, both of us went to see them play at Nottingham, with Gareth seeing them in Manchester the Friday before. On both occasions they were incredible!
