Spoken word expert Peter Meads (i.e. Scroobius Pip) and DJ Daniel Stephens (i.e. Dan le Sac) joined forces to create the monster hip hop duo Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Follow Dan le Sac booking Pip to play a gig at a venue he was promoting and remixing Pip’s debut solo album, they got together to record some music. They didn’t gain any commercial success until “Thou Shalt Always Kill” was recorded, but since then have had 2 albums inside the UK’s top 40, with their second album peaking at 43. A powerful combination of styles, Scroobius Pip usually raps about subjects most are afraid to talk about. They have songs about domestic violence, suicide and self harm, sexual harassment and murder. It’s a powerful combination.

I first heard Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip while working the laptop at my Church’s youth group. That song was Letter From God to Man, and totally unrelated I heard Thou Shalt later on. Seeing them play at Greenbelt convinced me to buy their album and I’ve followed their careers since. I’ve seen them live twice more, the third time with Emma – who I got into them.
